As a Freshman Research Scholar, Cassidy had the honor of presenting her research work at the April 2015 OSU Undergraduate Research Symposium. Her project was titled "Organized Disorder: Packing in Microscopic and Macroscopic Systems", and in it Cassidy used the Cowboy computer to simulate glassy systems of pentane-like molecules and compare the results to experimental measurements of random packings of Runts candies. She uncovered direct correspondence between the macroscopic candy models and microscopic molecular simulation models. Not only was this a fun project, but she was selected as the best FRS presentation! Congratulations, Cassidy!
